Sunday Scribblings - Scandalous
Sunday Scribblings November 2nd, 2008I’ve never been involved in a scandal. At least as far as I know, we’ll never know what people talk behind our backs. But I can recall one scandalous moment some years back when my daughter was just a year old.
My daughter and I took a four hour international flight to spend Christmas at my parent’s house. The hubby was busy with work and instead of sulking at the idea that he will not be travelling with us or spending Christmas with us, I thanked him for giving me the chance to travel. I didn’t need any unnecessary emotional baggage to add to the ‘real’ baggage I had.
The flight was smooth and painless. My daughter was still nursing that time and during the course of that flight, I was breastfeeding her. I only got to sleep for two hours that previous night so I was really sleepy. The lunch I just had pushed me harder off to dream land.
Some time later….
I felt a little bit cold. I woke up and found my baby asleep in my arms, finished with her feeding, looking so content and peaceful. I also found out that I had been half-naked from the waist up with my left breast desirably exposed for everyone to see!
At some point during my sleep, the nursing cover fell down and no one bothered to pick it up and prevented me from exposing myself.
Humiliating and scandalous I know, but thank God I am not a movie star and there were no paparazzis aboard. (doesn’t make it less embarassing of course!!)
This writing exercise is fueled by the writing prompt “scandalous” at Sunday Scribblings.

I once walked up out of the sea after a wave had knocked me over and had dragged off the top half of my costume! You reminded me of something I’ve always tried to forget!

Hey, I fed all my 3 kids and it is the most lovely natural thing in the world to do. That is not scandalous! What is though is snotty people being offended by it. I am a great believer in, cows milk for baby cows, goats milk for baby goats, human milk for baby humans, it is the best way to go for mum and baby.

At least you weren’t around people you knew! Now, that would have been really embarrassing!
Great story!

Oh, that would have been embarrassing. I would have stopped and covered you up. I once ran up behind a woman who had tucked her skirt in the top of her panty hose and helped her out. She was embarrassed, but grateful. BJ
