I am starting to get scared of the croc
mommy thoughts December 3rd, 2007My daughter is a big fan of crocs. If you don’t have an idea of what a croc is, it is a pair of rubber slip-ons for children but is also available for adults as well. I do not own a croc but my daughter does. She uses it for short walks, not when we go to the park when she has to be in proper rubber shoes to facilitate easy and comfortable play.

Once we went out for a short walk outside our building when I realized I needed to buy a phone card. We need to cross the street to go to one. It was a Friday so there’s not much cars on the streets but streets are very dangerous here as there are no pedestrian lanes so people need to watch out for the perfect timing and run. I attempted to carry her but she protested so instead I held her and we ran when it was time to cross.
Everything went fine and we crossed the street again and went home.
At night, I looked at my sleeping daughter and thought: how stupid I was to bring her to cross the street in crocs especially that she did not put the back strap on! What if one of the croc slipped off her feet and she ran back to get it as she usually does? What if my timing to cross the street was wrong? what if…what if…
I cringe at the thought of her slipping one of the crocs and we are in the middle of the street when I think I was not holding her tight enough. That night, sleep was very elusive.
