the ties that bind
fitness May 20th, 2008I went to the gym yesterday with one big blunder. No, I didn’t forget my jogging pants nor my rubber shoes, had it been these two things I forgot, it would be easier to decide to go home instead. What I forgot to bring was my hair tie, to think that my hair is long (length is until halfway down my back!).
How could I ever do my treadmill session without tying my hair? I rummaged through the lost and found box to test my luck. I mean, I’ve seen people with long hair shuttling to the gym and they must, at least, one point in their lives left their hair ties when they took it off in the shower, no? There were goggles, swimming caps, hair clips, a baby wipe(!?), comb, a hand lotion, several towels, a swimsuit and other small stuffs in the lost and found box except one decent, functional hair tie. I would even have settled for a rubber band if there was!
After more than 10 minutes of wasting precious time, I was ready to find a good pair of scissors to chop my hair off. Kidding. I asked the lifeguard (there’s a pool also in the fitness center) if I can have one of those swimming caps with missing owners. He said, “yeah, take it they’ve been there for more than a year!”
I got the cap and borrowed a scissor. No I didn’t cut my hair off. I made a cut at the edge of the cap and used it to tie my hair. Not the most charming of hair ties but it surely served the purpose!

Very creative LOL.
My gym has a stash of hairbands that they’ll sell to you for a few cents if you forget yours.
I wish my gym had a service like that!

I’m impressed. I wouldn’t have even thought to do that!
I had no choice!
