so much for Good Friday

Gray Cee on Mar-22-2008

I have not been a good example of a great Christian mom on Good Friday. When tradition calls for silence, reflection and even fasting, I was far from being quiet and reflective yesterday. I was even eating more often than usual!

In the spirit of eating only light meals throughout the course of the day, Pristine and I ended up eating more than 5 times because we were constantly hungry. Hungry because we spent so much energy playing and laughing. Ah, couldn’t really help it as it was a holiday for me as well last Thursday and I needed the break to spend some time with her and I don’t know if anyone could ever be quiet around an energetic toddler like mine.

It was great just spending two days at home, nothing special, just lazying around with the kiddo. Longer sleeping times, pillow fights, movies and story telling sessions. For me, this is the good life!

she’s getting good at it

Gray Cee on Jan-28-2008

We gave our daughter a bicycle on her 4th birthday last month. She was thrilled, it was the one thing she had been asking the whole year! We rarely buy toys, not because we are Scrooge but because she is hardly interested in the trivial things.

At first, she was contented to ride the bike inside our limited living room area (yes biking inside our small apartment, I am not kidding!) but when we started to bring the bike to the park and leave her to ride as likes, it has become almost a daily routine, a weekly carnival!

She has improved a lot that I find it hard to catch her when she’s at full speed. Good exercise for me!

celebrating Christmas late

Gray Cee on Dec-29-2007

The babe was thrilled to see so many gifts under the tree. She had been prodding me to open every one of them every single day since the gifts were placed there. Thankfully, she is no longer a baby and can fully understand now the meaning of the word wait.

Yesterday was her big day, we finally opened all the presents much to her delight. We opened a couple of presents on the 23rd, her birthday and then on Christmas morning and the rest we opened yesterday since I am only home on Fridays. I know, my job schedule sucks.

I feel strange having a get together at home and having a party after Christmas. It’s just so different if only we were able to do the festivities on the actual Christmas day. But now is not the time to complain as we intend to stay here in Dubai for at least 5 years so chances are, we will be celebrating Christmas at an ‘off date’ again next year and the next.
