an insect that ruined father’s day
We had no celebration of Father’s day yesterday if celebration means eating out or have something fancy for dinner at home. I came home after going to the gym to find Pristine crying and my husband trying to appease her and putting ice on her palm.
What happened?
He is not sure. They were watching Narnia on DVD when suddenly the babe complained of pain in her hands, particularly her palm, just right below her thumb. It was swollen red and the swelling was massive! M didn’t know what happened, whether suddenly he broke her finger bone or something - by just watching DVD!?
I looked at the troubled hand and know that some insect might have bitten her earlier in the day - in school or at home. When we were in Japan, I would pick her up from daycare, with swollen legs because of mosquito bites. Her skin is highly allergic to insect bites and swells for three days.
Poor kid, that doesn’t sound fun. Not for your husband either. (He’s lovely by the way, it’s nice to finally see a picture.)
Do you keep benadryl or something around in case she ever has a serious reaction or gets bitten somewhere more sensitive?
Ugh, that’s too bad. I hope the swelling is down by today. Sometimes making a paste with water and baking soda can help to relieve the pain of a bite. My neighbor mixed that up for me when I was stung by a wasp and it seemed to work.
