My mom celebrated her 57th birthday a couple of days ago and I am glad she is with me on her special day. Though we were together for her birthday last year too, my mom and I were separated for 10 long years - not estranged, we were living in two different countries and missed out on each other’s birthdays for 10 consecutive years.

* the photo is a little bit Halloweenish with darkness and all but I thought I’d not expose my mom’s face too much *

M and I gave her flowers and we bought a cake. We had a quiet celebration at home…who am I kidding about quiet celebration? We have a kid at home! We sang happy birthday, turned off the lights and let her blow the candles on her cake. There were only two candles and Pristine asked vehemently why she’s older than her grandma at 5!

Anyway, I thank God for my mother. I have lots to say for the many things she has done but can be summed up in one sentence:

Where will I be without her?
