The Go-Giver: A Little Story About a Powerful Business Idea, is an exceptional business/success books that’s not ordinary. It is told in a parable and is kept short and interesting by the authors. It is an easy read, no big words. Just great tips to success not only in business but for personal relationships as well written in a straightforward and inspiring way.
As soon as I finished reading the little red powerful book, I want to give my friends one copy each to spread the message, the inspiration to improve their business or personal life!
Here’s a brief book description:
The Go-Giver tells the story of an ambitious young man named Joe who yearns for success. Joe is a true go-getter, though sometimes he feels as if the harder and faster he works, the further away his goals seem to be. And so one day, desperate to land a key sale at the end of a bad quarter, he seeks advice from the enigmatic Pindar, a legendary consultant referred to by his many devotees simply as the Chairman.
Over the next week, Pindar introduces Joe to a series of “go-givers:” a restaurateur, a CEO, a financial adviser, a real estate broker, and the “Connector,” who brought them all together. Pindar’s friends share with Joe the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success and teach him how to open himself up to the power of giving.
Joe learns that changing his focus from getting to giving—putting others’ interests first and continually adding value to their lives—ultimately leads to unexpected returns.
Honestly, when I read this brief description alone, I know I want to read this book and could benefit from it. I am a fan of success how-to books and I was not wrong with this one. This book talks about how to achieve success in a different non-traditional way. It talks not about ordinary success but stratospheric success. Don’t you like the sound of that?
What caught my attention is the discussion of networking. It is an overrated word but it made great sense in the book. I believe in networking, geniune friendships without expecting anything in return. In the book, Bob and John explain, everyone in your network is a walking talking ambassador for you’. I can attest that!
